Many people wonder: What are the benefits of avoiding social media? While a social media account does provide many people with a multitude of advantages, it can also be a significant time drain. While avoiding social media can reduce the stress and FOMO that often accompanies it, you should also consider avoiding these networks if you can. These sites are full of advertisements and a disproportionate number of them are untrustworthy.

When you’re logged out of all social networks, you’re no longer part of their circle, which means that they won’t try to keep you informed. While social media allows you to share posts and respond to comments, it can also have negative effects on your mental health. Avoiding toxic people can improve your life and help you feel more connected to the world around you. But it’s not just for people in bad situations.

Many people find social media addictive. Studies have shown that it’s not only harmful for your mental health, but it can also lead to feelings of stress and depression. Besides, you may have developed a need to spend more time on social media in order to gain access to it. Even if you’re not interested in this kind of addiction, avoiding social media can give you a fresh start and help you become happier and more satisfied with yourself.

One study found that limiting social media use before bedtime improved sleep and well-being in 132 people. In fact, teens who were not heavily engaged with social media were significantly less likely to participate in the study. Moreover, it was found that adolescents who abstaining from social media for one week had less stress than their counterparts who used it extensively. And abstaining from social media has many other benefits.
